I’m very excited about this particular Chinese New Year.
The first of day of the New Year is actually today, but last night was the most important day. When the immdiate family is suppose to gather around for dinner for 團圓飯. My sister went back to her inlaws for dinner, I was back with my parents for a simple dinner and an intimate chat. Over the 2 weeks, all the relatives are suppose visit each other’s homes and bring oranges, candy and red envelopes.
My mom and I were talking about my life and she said that I’m so much more open now and I am able to be much more positive. “Just look at how you are handling your tendon rupture, ” In Chinese there is a term called 看的開 or 看開一點 which translates to “don’t focus too much on the bad aspects, be open to change”
My mom will be making her traditional dishes of rice wine, fried sugar and peanut dumplings, New Years cake.
I’m just very excited!!
